Meet The Doctor

Oral Surgery Mark S. Ericson DDS

Meet the doctor

Dr. Ericson is a uniquely trained Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon.  After graduating from U.C. Davis, Dr. Ericson attended Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery where he graduated first in his class.  Dr. Ericson earned an Army Health Professions Scholarship to attend Columbia University; and because of this, he was required to enter active duty service upon graduation.  Dr. Ericson was the first person accepted in the Army’s Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery program directly out of dental school, and he completed his residency at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington.

Based upon the high appraisals of his mentors, Dr. Ericson was selected to teach Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery as one of only three attending faculty surgeons at the Army’s premier trauma/reconstruction hospital, Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC), in San Antonio, Texas.  In his four years at BAMC, Dr. Ericson trained and graduated eight new Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons in the full scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.  He performed of 200 major reconstructive surgical procedures in the operating room on patients injured in Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom and trauma patients from South Texas.  When not in the operating room, Dr. Ericson practices “traditional” oral and maxillofacial surgery in the hospital clinic.  He performed dentoalveolar surgery, bone grafting, and implant surgery as well as orthognathic surgery on a regular basis.
